Unknown artist, IV Style (55 - 79 A.D.) Pompei
The fruit of the peach tree appears in some frescoes: Introduced in the Roman Empire from Persia in 30 A.D., It was certainly grown in Pompeii, as the numerous peach Stones found there bear witness. Commercially very valvable. These fruits were sold singly at every high price as they were though to possess curative qualities.
